Glass flower mosaic done for now

 Done and hung!

My first art piece for the loafing shed yard. I may decide to gift it later. For now it for my eyes to enjoy. Tomorrow morning, looking forward to a hot cup of coffee and my first look at the sun showing off the flowers.

Decided to grout this piece. A lot more areas to fill first.

Work in progress. I think I want to try grout. Means I need to fill in background first. What to do. What to do.

Rose mosaic work in progress

So I have a few things to decide. I do I fill the background with as many small flowers as possible?  If so do I grout or leave background clear?  What about adding greens for leaves and grasses?  Sky?  Call me to offer encouragement or suggestions.

Rose of sharon mosaic glass

I have several pieces of clear glass to practice mosaic on. I first considered making an elongated rose of sharon but decided to go unsemitric.  Ruff cut.

Glass is from Connie's stash.  She gave me a piece of kiln melted scrap glass that had broken.  Karlee and I thought it looked like sea glass and decided to make a beach inspired piece for Kelly.  We used a sand color grout and added sea shells to the vase.

 Breely and Karlee each made a smaller plate to use as coasters.  We added a beach theme figurine to finish out the present..   It is always fun to get creative with the kids.  No expectations, just imagination.

I would say this one is a success!

Mosaic and yardsale

This will be a quick post, I am supposed to be making supper- lol
Today was grandson Andrew's B-day!  I gave him 8 gold dollar coins as a head start on a morning of yard-sales and a trip to the thrift shop.  What a fun day (for me)

I found a baggie of misc ceramic items I can use in my mosaic work someday.

I also found a cut photo frame to use as a gift for a niece who is bringing a baby girl into her life.

And..  I got to show off grand daughter, Karlee's and my newest glass mosaic.  This piece will be a platter to sit on my night stand.  It was made using the scraps from my bull dog window.

OK, now back to the kitchen!   cw

a little quilting and a little collecting

I don't quilt for the public but every now and then I get talked into working on a donation project.
This Quillow is for an upcoming event to raise money for kids.  I didn't write the details down so I am not sure exactly when this auction piece will find a new home.  The 'boots' were new to me and took a bit to get use too!

 Thanks to Craig's list, I got to help a gal purge her glass and mosaic collection prior to her move.  I know I didn't really need to spare her the joy of adding all this to her yardsale.
I paid more than I wanted too and way less then it is all worth but happy to say it is home and on its way to being sorted and introduced to my own collection of misc future yard sale stuff.
(Seriously, this is supposed to be all used up in mosaic work in my lifetime, but we all know the grand-kids will be cleaning it up long after I am gone- lol)

We lost count on the number of full jars.  The glass globs, marbles, stained glass pieces, stones, and other misc were sorted and brought inside.  There are 4 totes of ceramics/china/etc/ and a dozen more lg pickle jars left to go through this week.

Who wants to take bets on how many relatives will get some sort of mosaic stepping stone for Christmas this year---insert evil laugh here- lol

Karlee 'found' the glass leaves and I added them to the one plant I haven't killed yet.  Today is very overcast, hopefully tomorrow morning I can enjoy the sunlight coming in.
