Mary's show and tell

Quilt group meet last night and we had a little show and tell. Mary M was inspired by the last strip/string class and made this beautiful Christmas prints top.

I just love how she did the borders. This quilt is a Holiday Beauty!

A couple of months ago we used a series of Children's Prints to make donation quilts. One pattern the group tried was the Cut-Up-4-Patch.

Several of the gals have gone on to make additional personal quilts from the pattern.

Here is one that Mary made and Free Motion Quilted.

A little more sewing on the borders and she can start on the binding. Mary is not by nature a scrappy girl but she is enjoying mixing it up a bit. (I am starting to wear her down) I just think her eye for color and precising in assembly just produce the most lovely pieces of work.

I am thrilled to get to share the photos. As friends and quilters we never know when we are going to motivate someone. Mary is definitely motivating me to add both of these to my future TO-DO list!

Another Wedding Quilt-

Good friend, Mary M let me pull from stash to donate towards this lovely gift.

I love having friends that share my passions. Another friend asked if we could make a quilt for an up coming event.

I think this turned out just lovely. Mary M sewed the top in record time. She then had to come over to my place to quilt it-- I supervised)

I think everyone call tell from this top that I DID NOT SEW IT.

My friend Mary M whipped up this beauty for a wedding gift for friends in El Salvador.

She asked me to machine quilt it because all her 'safety pins' were in use on another lovely quilt she is free motion quilting.

I offered to purchase more pins but just got a 'dirty' look for my humble effort to help.

I am bragging a little but am so proud of the work Mary does on her quilts.

She has only been quilting a few years. Her work is wonderful,

I am a totally scrappy gal BUT can really appreciate the beautiful way these fabrics play together.

Mary designed the quilt around the floral focus fabric. I think most everything was pulled from her stash.

Now she needs to trim this quilt up and add the yellow binding. It will travel to the 'new' couple next week.

Baby Willis gets a flannel Quilt....

Good friend Mary M finished the baby quilt for my soon to be new little grand-daughter.

A while back Mary was over at my house helping me sort through material. We found a small box of flannel and picked out some to send to Erin.

This group just begged to go home with her to be used for a baby gift.

Mary added the purple but the rest was from stash.

The back is as lovely as the front. The bird is from a stencil I picked up at the Chicago Show.

The only thing that will make this quilt look better is a precious little baby girl wrapped up in it.

A Couple More S&W (Mary M)

I am thrilled to say that Mary let me quilt small roses on this beautiful quilt.

It is so cheery- so spring- so Mary!

The border is the focus fabric- just beautiful.

This quilt was gifted this morning to one of our dear friends at church.

Mary had extra blocks and made one more small quilt. This one has a slightly different setting. The borders are a bit more narrow. It was free motion quilted by her at home. She has really been doing her homework!



Amazing how the same focus fabric looks so different after the top is set together.

Really makes me want to find a fabric with stripes to make my own.

Semi-funny story. Another friend decided to use the same fabric. She didn't make it to the class but cut her material up without the instructions. Of course she thought she had ruined it. Mary M was able to save 16 sets of blocks. Fingers crossed we may get to see yet a third beautiful rose quilt.

I am so glad I had my camera with me b/c she has been a very busy gal.

This quilt is so beautiful it made me tear up, it just takes my breath away looking at it.

I love how she fussy cut to get the faux border on her plates.

I can't wait to see how she decides to quilt it.

If you have any suggestions, we are open to them.

Mary does Free Motion on most of her quilts. She also has access to my big machine. Mine does better with border to border continuous line patterns (no stitch regulator). What would you do and why/how?

I told her I could get several suggestions before we meet again for quilting.- plz don't leave me hanging. - cw
