Hubby didn't want the bird baths set up until he had time to level and secure them.  I decided they are safer on the ground where the kids/wind/etc can't knock them over.  The pedestals make nice perches. Tipping problem solved.

I have seen more birds on/in the wagon.  None would sign the release to get photographed today.  Maybe next time.

Another reclaimed piece, this one just needed a couple coats of clear sealer.  Ready to go for another couple of seasons.

Another haul from Connies yard

I will probably wait till next spring to show off my progress.  It may take me that long to get these back into the ground.  A couple of more trips (this time with the truck) and I am calling it quits for a bit.

Kiddos and I ran to Connie's to dig flowers out of her yard.  Lane (10) had the camera and most of these shots are from him.  Cousin Andrew(8) tagged along and pointed out TO DO's that he wanted documented for future reference.

Happy to report that this load of Seedum and Iris have all found new forever homes.  Between my yard and Sarah and Kelly's we are going to enjoy Connies transplants for many years to come.

Good friend, Connie sent this wash basin home with me.  I don't normally 'do' flowers but this summer I have been planting in everything I can beg, borrow or steal.

A couple of Hens & chicks, a few misc rocks and we are off to a good start.

A couple of coats of clear spray brought the bird figurine back to life.  I am going to have my spring/summer full restoring Connie's throw-a-ways.   I am adding a future TO DO to clear coat all the metal someday.  I may even spray paint everything black or white?

This is last weeks project.  FYI- the crock pots will break if left out over winter.  The figurines are all glued down with clear caulk so they don't get knocked over and broken.  Everything  pictured (except flowers) came from the thrift shop.  I bought crock pots all winter and left them outside.  Several filled with snow/water and froze/broke.  Clear caulk glued them back together, now with character.

Shelby's grad quilt pt 2

So last night hubby and I watched a movie and I die cut the diamonds for Shelby grad quilt.  The inspiration piece had a more random layout but b/c I am leaning towards scrappy, I am going to do an alternate placement.

The star blade will be orange and greys and radiate out from an orange center

I love the way this will come together.  Can't wait to get sewing.

I did the siggy area as strips so I can splice them into an inner border-  I meant to write-- "Shelby's grad. quilt from Auntie cheryl"  This piece isn't going to make it in the top--lol

Oh well, better to be an example then nothing at all-  right?

This is going to be a cute keepsake!  Love it when the recipients help with the planning.

Shelby's Grad quilt 2014

It is that time of year to think of making quilts for the HS Graduates in the family.  My niece, Shelby came up with the inspiration piece.

Her colors are Dark Oranges and Greys.

I will tweak the layout a bit so I can get some strips for signatures from teachers and friends. 

Possible fabric for the back of the quilt.  Subject to her approval of course!

Good friend, Dawn stopped by and helped me pull fabrics to play with.  Not everything will make it into the quilt but it is always fun to make a pile or two.

I have searched my dies for a diamond shape and can't find one.  So....I either never had one or I have misplaced mine.  Lucky for me Pam has one at her shop I can get tomorrow afternoon.  Fingers crossed this future snuggle under gets cut out while I get caught up on my recorded shows. 

Tonight I will audition fabrics and pick one to strip cut for signatures.  Shelby, expect a package in the mail next week.    I can get the star done while you are gathering well wishes from your classmates.
