Stained Glass update

There are 4 piece of yellow to cut around the top star/sun.  Then when hubby comes home tomorrow we can decided if we like the colors.  If no other changes need to be made we can start foiling soon.

The ray pieces were hard for me b/c I wanted to use up pieces I had.  It is hard to get the random look when one has a limited supply to choose from.

I need to find a few more friends in the area that do glass work so I can mooch pieces until I build my inventory- lol

I can't wait to get to play with the small scrap pieces.  I bought 16 clay pots today at a yard sale.  I 'see' mosaic project in my future!

Hoping for a little Friday Fling- fabric that is....

I made a post on our local Free Cycle and have had two requests for fabric.   Yeah me!  Hopefully this is the motivation I need to get a little stash out the door.  My goal is to use it all up in my life-time, I might have to have several life times or several other quilters help meet that goal.  I am going to go with additional hands and hearts!

I can't wait to see what the gals pick up.

New Art for my wall and a great visit w/daughter

Our oldest daughter came over today to do an Art project with 5 of the grand kids.  What a beautiful new piece for me to hang with honor on my wall.

I think my kitchen is going to smell like melting crayons for awhile! - lol

Everything I love- color, texture and Grand Kids!

To make your own crayon art here is how we did ours:  Raelynn brought a framed painted canvas.  (I love orange- don't you know)  The kiddo's broke a box of 24 crayons into halves.  I made hot glue dots around the edge of the frame as the kids handed Aunte Raelynn crayons to glue down.

Then the fun begins.  Cover the crayons with wax paper and iron to melt the colors.  Enjoy how they drip down the canvas.  (The kids actually chanted encouragement as the first colors started to race each other.)

GO Green, GO Green.

Let the piece dry and turn to repeat on a different side.  I like how the crayon papers look like fringe so I plan to leave them attached.

The UN-named masterpiece is now on the wall in my office.

Up Date on the Stained Glass project

Grandkids are excited to color the pattern.

No doves were hurt in the making of this pattern.

print and color, I would love to see your ideas
This window is being made for our church auditorium. After pricing commissioned pieces, hubby and I decided we would rather spend the money learning to do glass ourselves.
I am sure Carl, thought I would be doing it w/my instructor, Connie.  I 'knew' he couldn't keep his hands off of it. (lol)

One of the concepts Connie has shared is that the person doing the pattern needs to pick the glass. She also said if you can 'think it' you can 'do it'
When I quilt I sometimes start with the fabric, but most times have a design or pattern in mind.  It always just comes together, often changing course a couple of times during the process.

This window has changed course a couple of times too.  The dove has been drawn out a half dozen different ways.  There have been a couple of sun/stars and the rays have undergone changes too.

I think we are close to saying 'this is it' and moving on to the next steps.  Wish us luck....
So far it has been an interesting journey working together

This one is getting closer!
